Love

By Collin Lynch

What is love:

Before we go any further let me make it clear. God is Love. below is the attributes of love which is the attributes of God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

Attributes of love

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. (Amp, 1st Corinthian 13:4-8)

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. Proverbs 10:12 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)

God Love for us:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, (Ephesians 2:4) I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (Proverbs 8:17) And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:12-16) And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:26)

Love for God:

We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19) If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15) As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. (John 15:9-10) If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. (John 15:9-10) I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. (Psalms 18:1)

Love for one another:

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (John 13:34) Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. (1 John 4:11) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (John 15:12) These things I command you, that ye love one another. verse 17 Let brotherly love continue. (Hebrews 13:1) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (Ephesians 5:25) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. (1 John 5:2)

Husband & Wife

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (Ephesians 5:25) Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. (Colossians 3:19) That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, (Titus 2:4)

Love for your enemy:

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Romans 13:10) Romans 12:14, 17-21For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. (Luke 6:32) For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (Matthew 5:46)
