The Word
The Word Created Everything:
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1). In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth …. And God said … and God said … and God said… and God said … and God said … God spoke (the Word) everything into existence and when He did, a chain reaction took place. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God (spoken Word), so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Hebrews 11:3). And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). The Word is Jesus, Jesus is the Word.
When man fell, God had to come and fix it and because he loves us so much He became flesh so He could rescue us from destruction. You might say why did God have to become flesh, why not just start over. First of all, God is a Spirit and the Spirit of God never dies. When God created man He breathe into him the breath of life. That breath is eternal. The same thing with satan. satan is also a created spirit and that’s why he is still around, but his time is coming to an end, soon. Since man spirit will live forever (either in heaven or in hell) God had to do something about is son, man. Since flesh is the container for man’s spirit, God had to do the same. He had to put on flesh so He could communicate with us on our level.
We are not robots. The Father created us in His image and since we are created in His image we have a free choice. We can either choose life or death. The Father recommend that we choose life.
The Word is Eternal:
Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven (Psalms 119:89).
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away (Matthew 24:35)
The Bible is the written Word of God:
The christian bible which is the Old and New Testament is the recorded collection of God’s spoken Word. “And we have the prophetic word [made] firmer still. You will do well to pay close attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dismal (squalid and dark) place, until the day breaks through [the gloom] and the Morning Star rises (comes into being) in your hearts.
[Yet] first [you must] understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is [a matter] of any personal or private or special interpretation (loosening, solving).
For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so–it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit (2nd Peter 1:19-20). The Spirit of the Lord spoke in and by me, and His word was upon my tongue (2nd Samuel 23:2)
The Word Does not return void:
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17).
The Word must be a priority in our lives:
I have laid the foundation about the Word of God, so let see how it applies to our everyday life. There is a lot more that can be said about the Word of God, but there would not be enough time in this life to cover it.
The Word is a pruning tool. The Word says we change our mind by the washing of the Word. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart (Heb 4:12). Yes, that is how powerful the Word of God is. We need the Word to fix us and make us complete . Jesus who is the Word of God said in Matthew chapter 4, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Jesus also said “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples…”
Lets just list some of the things the Word can do for you:
The Word gives you faith:
We receive faith from hearing the Word of God. The book of Romans state “for Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things! However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Romans 10:13-17).
The Word gives you wisdom and understanding:
The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple (Psalms 119:130). Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, For I give you sound teaching; Do not abandon my instruction. When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother, 4Then he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live; Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. “Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty. Hear, my son, and accept my sayings and the years of your life will be many.
The Word can heal you:
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalms 107:20). My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:20-22).
The Word keeps you pure:
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You (Psalms 119:9,11).
The Word gives you confidence :
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken (Proverbs 3:26)
The Word makes you prosperous:
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success (Joshua 1:8).
The Word gives you peace and a long life:
My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.
The Word keeps us safe:
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalms 107:20). The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe (proverbs 19:10).
